Torrey Trestle Table
This piece was especially unique, handmade from a local Torrey Pine Tree in San Diego. These trees are a rare species of Pine, only growing in the Southern California area. They are an endangered species. The tree was approaching the end of its life cycle, and was posing a safety risk to the nearby residents, and thus needed to be removed. Joinery is stout and strong, mortise and tenon. The finished surface of the top was hand-planed only, to show the makers’ marks. No sanding was done anywhere on this piece. Finished with a hand rubbed oil.
